Jon Abrahamson & Bonnie (Springer) Qualify to NSARDA Air Scent Standard

We are extremely pleased to congratulate and introduce dog team Jon Abrahamson & Bonnie as a new Air Scent Search Dog team in Kent.

They undertook a gruelling assessment process involving 5 searches over 3 days and had to find lots of missing persons (volunteer people hiding out in all sorts of places for us – we lovingly call them ‘Bodies‘ who act as our missing persons).

During this process Paul McKay was Dog Team Support keeping them on track but most importantly calming the nerves and keeping him from falling to bits!

After working for a year to train Bonnie’s mother Sophie, Jon could see that this was not working so decided to breed Sophie and from that litter chose Bonnie. Jon started training with Bonnie as soon as she was tested and accepted into the team. The whole Abrahamson family have played a huge role in training in all weathers supporting Jon and Bonnie through the whole process. Jon and Bonnie have worked incredibly hard for this and very much deserve their badges and certificates. Kent is all the better for having another search dog team deploying through Kent Search And Rescue

We thank NSARDA External Assessors including Harold Burrows (North Wales), Gerry Tobin (SARDA Ireland) Mick Grant (SARDA Ireland), who arrived on Thursday and worked through to the weekend.
